In which I explain what last weeks journal was about, as opposed to dropping a couple of contextless sentances of intent.
Basically, it goes like this. You know Omega (Sometimes known as 'Omega Chronicles', but not that often)? That age-old concept I came up with at the dawn of time? (ok, turn of the millenium, close enough.) The little thing that was really the source of my entire drive to learn to draw?
Yeah, you probably didn't know that about it. Probably don't know much about it at all, I imagine. I've not been very forthcoming on details, really. That's another point I'll have to address sometime, but not right now.
Anyway. Omega (Chronicles). Built, by design, as a universe that basically took all sorts of things from other worlds and mismashed them together into a (hopefully cohesive) whole. As time wore on, I started stripping out or rebuilding concepts that were unweildy or poorly thought out, but keeping a few of them constant. The most obvious of which was the cast, since that's what really started the idea going in the first place.
And while it's been a fun ride (for me, at least, since I was the only one really riding) it's about time I stopped that. So, as of last week, I've finally decided that enough is enough, and been heavily working at removing those final elements that stand between "mostly mine, but not quite completely" and "mine". Mostly, this has involved reworking the core cast; removing the undesigned characters, and either removing or redesigning the already-heavily-redesigned remainders until nothing but the vaguest of similarities remain. Which will be helped, somewhat, when I can get the story-telling half into gear, and show the differances in personality on top of the differances in physicality, but one step at a time, eh?
I might get around to posting some of these redesign sketches. Depends how busy I am doing more of them, or dealing with the other crap life keeps trying to throw my way. |

Try retooling it to stand on its own - you may be surprised at how rewarding the process is.
Such is my current working thematic. More on this as it develops. |

"This lecture is like teaching somebody to build a house by giving them a stack of bricks and going home."
~ Me, in a Uni notebook I'd forgotten about completely.
Sums up my entire university experiance, to be honest. Made me crack up when it was read out to me though. |

I repeat, with added emphasis:

Maybe when I am less tired, I'll expand on that.
Maybe. |

Well, that was one of the least fun games of TF2 I've ever played, and for the life of me I can't pin down what made it so. Even when I was -winning- I wasn't having much fun.
Bleaugh.
Hopefully next time will be more fun. Or at least, I'll quit out when earlier when it's just dragging on me instead of being enjoyable. |

Eesh. Logo design is such a pain in the arse. I rather wish I wasn't trying to be doing it. |

So, uh, knock on wood, my computer functions again.
(Long story short; the power supply was doing some weird shit, but component shift meant we had a spare on-hand I didn't know of)
So I should have proper access to things like my e-mail, various IM services, my writing notes, and other suchwhat.
Which is nice. If a little louder, but loud+functional > quiet+nonfunctional
Oh, hum, frontal USB ports are connected wrong. Fair enough. I was waiting for something else to be not quite right. X) |

As of about a week ago, my best friend is a father.
That...feels kinda weird. Partly because I know the entire relationship is a dubious house of cards that stacked with very little warning. The actual scope of it is rather beyond my LJ, though, and in any case I'm always loathe to talk about a friend's problems even if they'd be willing to share.
Still. Met the little'un today. She's cute. Also tiny (moreso than is usual, I believe?), has quite a lot of hair, as babies go, and is incredibly quiet when she even deems to be awake. Which, apparantly, isn't really very often. |

Went to turn on my computer, and it won't power on.
That's....not a good thing. |

Y'know, the only thing that dissapoints me about Transformers Animated is that Starscream went traitor right at the start, and we only got a handful of scenes in a single episode with him pretending to work for Megatron. I thought that stuff was awesome. There was potential for so much more "I'm pretending to work for you but I'd much rather be stabbing you dead" hilarity before the traitor gambit, and they skipped it almost entirely out. I find that a little dissapointing.
The rest, though? Very nice. Reminiscant of G1 (A Megatron in the proper colour scheme? SHOCK!), but without all those hilariously bad episodes and ideas. |

[06:53] SilverSword: but yeah. [06:53] ToXik-yogHurt: I thought the drybrushing had darkened it a lot? [06:53] SilverSword: it does, in it's own way [06:55] SilverSword: hum. I should've put some lightning on, I forgot that. Ah well. [06:55] ToXik-yogHurt: I'd be more worried that you forgot to draw him any legs really ;) [06:55] SilverSword: I didn't forget, I purposefully omitted them at the start [06:56] SilverSword: framing, y'see [06:56] ToXik-yogHurt: mm [06:56] ToXik-yogHurt: well he's missing something down there then [06:56] ToXik-yogHurt: his lower left arm or something [06:58] ToXik-yogHurt: or turn the blue blob into a black blob, so it's billowing smoke? [06:58] ToXik-yogHurt: at the moment, if you squint a bit, it looks a bit like a duvet [06:58] SilverSword: you realise I'm not going to refine 10 minutes worth of sketch, right? :p [06:59] SilverSword: not any more than I did in the first place, anyway [06:59] ToXik-yogHurt: he's just woken up [06:59] SilverSword: yes [06:59] SilverSword: he sleeps with a bolt pistol [06:59] SilverSword: it's for the alarm clock [06:59] ToXik-yogHurt: I like the idea of space marines going to bed holding their bolt pistols [06:59] SilverSword: not that Space Marines really go to bed, per se, but it -is- an amusing thought [06:59] ToXik-yogHurt: and having a duvet over their power armour [06:59] ToXik-yogHurt: ^^ [07:14] ToXik-yogHurt: I do appologise for mulitating your pictars somewhat [07:14] ToXik-yogHurt: www.tfnfaulkner.plus.com/sleepynightlord.jpg [07:14] SilverSword: Xp [07:17] ToXik-yogHurt: don't let me stop you drawing stuff tho, I do like the original, it's just that _after_ I like the original I tend to think of something silly [07:19] ToXik-yogHurt: y'know how popular slapping captions on other pictars is on the interwebs after all [07:20] SilverSword: are you kidding? I'm nearly done sketching him shooting the alarm clock :p [07:20] ToXik-yogHurt: ^^ [07:20] ToXik-yogHurt: sometimes you seem to take things seriously that's all :p [07:25] SilverSword: http://omegachronicles.com/junk/40k/alarmclocklord.jpg [07:27] ToXik-yogHurt: I like the way the bells are all that's left :) |

Blood Angels - Been there, done that.
Dark Angels - No robes, Biel-Tan colour conflict
Space Wolves - No wolf bits.
Imperial Fists - Yellow is far too much of a bastard.
Black Templars - No chains or tabard, too dark.
Ultramarines - Lulno. Salamanders?
It's that or possibly, maybe, White Scars. But I have reservations about them too. |

Hehehe.
I was having trouble getting the redirect system for http://Exterminatusnow.co.uk to run again - sticking the address into the appropriate box alone wasn't seeming to have much effect. So I was considering sending (yet another) e-mail to the support team, see what they had to say.
Except that I opened my e-mail just then, and found they'd already sent me an answer to the question I was about to ask.
That's some quality service right there.
Exterminatusnow.co.uk should be working as intended again. |

Oh great.
Nothing like an extra £2 being stuck on the 'minimum payment' of my credit card and not telling me, so I count as not having paid it and getting £24 worth of fine for my trouble.
Thanks Barclays.

Y'know, I'd been poking around various differant 40k army ideas, looking for a potential new outlet (pending, of course, funds).
And then I remembered what it was that really drew me to Chaos Marines in the first place.
Building models out of parts from something like 11 differant sources. All I need now is some superglue and to sort out my paints.
But first, since I've managed to pull the all-nighter I'd planned, I have some places to visit and things to do. During daylight hours.
Because if I went to sleep first, I just know I'd set my alarm, hit snooze a couple times, accidentally hit something to turn it off, and end up not getting up until so far into the day I can't actually get these things done. Again.
That just would not do. No sir. |

I hate application forms. Finding the right balance between picking the answers they clearly want, and some actual honesty, is always a pain.
Plus I can never think of what counts for a good 'referance'. Very little comes under "knows you but is neither friend nor relative".
On the upside, I finally found my little post office account thingamybob that my Nana started going oh-so-many years ago. I forgot which 'safe place' I put it in, and it only just occured to me that this one, sily as it is, might've been right.
Properly stowed, pending a visit to the post office. I could rather do with that money about now - if nothing else, I can stretch it a couple months, or at least long enough to put in this application. Understaffed places looking for employees are handy, even if they -are- ASDA. |
